Group purchasing organization Premier healthcare alliance awarded 2 separate 6-year contracts to ICU Medical (NSDQ:ICUI) for the company’s complete line of needle-free IV connectors, set to kick off in 2014.

For the 1st time, Premier struck a deal that only includes needle-free IV connectors, and not a package deal for the connectors, IV pump and solution, according to ICU Medical.

"Premier member hospitals can now more easily make decisions about which needle free technology to implement in their facilities based on clinical performance without worrying about how those decisions will impact their supply chain spend," Richard Costello, senior VP of sales, said in a prepared statement.

The 1st contract also includes an supply agreement for IV extension sets and the 2nd includes the complete line of ICU Medical infusion sets and accessories.
