GI Dynamics (ASX:GID) said it hired a trio of new employees to bolster its commercial team as it ramps up sales of its EndoBarrier weight loss device in Europe and Australia.
The Lexington, Mass.-based company said it named Tony Tremaglio senior director of marketing, Anthony Switzer manager of commercial development Down Under and Gerd Gottschalk as reimbursement director for Europe.
It’s the latest in a series of hires GI Dynamics has made since its initial public offering on the Australian stock exchange last September. The company tapped Mark Twyman to oversee international expansion of sales and marketing efforts for the flagship EndoBarrier in November 2011.
The EndoBarrier, a plastic gut liner that impedes the uptake of nutrients from food to induce weight loss and improve the symptoms of diabetes, first won CE Mark approval for a 6-month course of treatment in December 2009. CE Marking for a 12-month course followed in October 2010, and last July the EndoBarrier won a nod from regulatory officials Down Under. Earlier this year GI Dynamics said it’s negotiating the parameters of a U.S. clinical trial with the FDA.
"We are very pleased to welcome Tony, Anthony and Gerd to the Company," Twyman said in prepared remarks.
