GenomeQuest Inc. hired Anthony Flynn to be its new chief marketing officer.
The Westborough, Mass.-based developer of genome sequence data management software appointed Flynn after he put in a year as a consultant to the company.
Flynn will lead GenomeQuest’s push for wider use of its sequence database engine in whole genome analysis and personalized medicine, according to a press release.
GenomeQuest CEO Ron Ranauro, who spoke with MassDevice in March about his firm’s cloud-based computing technology, said in prepared remarks that Flynn has "a unique ability to understand and communicate value to technical buyers as well as management.". The company’s "marketing metrics" rose by over 50 percent during Flynn’s tenure as a consultant, according to the company.
In December, GenomeQuest drummed up $3 million from nine un-named investors in an equity sale, taking its total fundraising to nearly $9 million.
