Rott made the announcement today on LinkedIn.
“Reflecting on my journey over the last 13 years being on the Ultrasound team has been nothing but terrific. The GE Healthcare business today is the world’s largest provider of Ultrasound based solutions in healthcare and involved improving lives of hundreds of millions of people on an annual basis,” Rott said in a LinkedIn post.
GE HealthCare’s Ultrasound division has had a lot of success in the last few months under Rott’s leadership. In April, the company launched a new AI-enhanced ultrasound for women’s health, the Voluson Signature 20 and 18. It also added its Caption AI software for point-of-care assessments on the company’s Vscan Air SL.
The Ultrasound division has also partnered with well-known companies to advance its offerings. For example, it partnered with Nvidia to develop an AI-powered research model for segmenting objects on ultrasound images. It has also received a $44 million backing from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to create user-friendly, AI-assisted ultrasound imaging auto-assessment tools.
GE HealthCare previously announced this appointment on June 10 as the company makes organizational changes to improve agility and addressing future imaging needs.
Imaging remains GE HealthCare’s largest segment, with more than $8.9 billion in annual revenue. The company wants to focus this segment on surgical and interventional procedure solutions. It singled out interventional cardiology and structural heart as particular areas of interest.
“As I move on to lead an equally important part of medical technology with Imaging, I wanted to pause and thank all our colleagues and partners for the passion and energy they bring to the job every day. Together with our customers who keep encouraging us to continuously improve the way to serve patients, this team is getting up every day to push the boundaries and help to screen & diagnose, guide and perform treatments of millions of patients around the world,” Rott said.
