GE HealthCare (Nasdaq: GEHC) added three technologies to its Vivid cardiovascular ultrasound portfolio: Vivid Explorer, Vivid Advanced and Vivid Focus.
Vivid Explorer supports advanced 4D, multi-plane and 2D imaging for transthoracic echocardiography (TTE), transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) and intracardiac echocardiography (ICE).
Meanwhile, Vivid Advanced includes 2D TTE, multi-plane TEE and 2D ICE as well as vascular, abdominal and soft-tissue imaging.
Vivid Focus has a 4Sc-RS probe and AI-enabled workflow tools for vascular, abdominal and soft-tissue exams.
“The imaging needs of an echo lab, a cardiology practice, and an interventional environment are not the same, and we’ve spent a lot of time with care teams in each of those settings to understand where technology can make the greatest difference,” Jyoti Gera, CEO of CardioVascular and Interventional Solutions, Advanced Imaging Solutions, said in a press release. “Developing Vivid Explorer, Vivid Advanced and Vivid Focus on the same foundation as Vivid Pioneer allows us to meet these unique needs while creating a more connected family of systems that deliver Vivid performance and the Vivid experience.”
All three new systems feature cSound, an imaging architecture software “designed to help optimize contrast, resolution and tissue visualization,” as well as AI-enabled tools “designed to streamline routine echo workflows and support consistency across users and exam types,” the company said.
The AI tools include AI Auto Measure 2D, which automates routine 2D measurements; Easy AutoEF, which assesses ejection fraction; Easy AFI LV, which measures left ventricle strain; and AI Cardiac Auto Doppler, which automates Doppler flow measurements.
Vivid Explorer, Vivid Advanced, Vivid Focus and EchoPAC Software Only v211 have received CE mark. These technologies are pending FDA 510(k) and are not presently available for sale in the U.S.
The existing Vivid iq, a laptop-sized portable system for cardiovascular, abdominal and musculoskeletal exams, rounds out the Vivid portfolio to a total of five systems.
Last August, GE HealthCare launched the Vivid Pioneer, a complete redesign of its Vivid platform. The new Vivid technologies are built on the same foundation as the Pioneer. The Vivid Pioneer has both CE Mark and FDA 510(k) clearance.
