The company plans to share its latest innovations at the 2023 Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics conference (TCT). TCT takes place in San Francisco this week. Among the new developments is a new partnership with Boston Scientific.
GE HealthCare intends to unveil Interact Touch, the latest feature in its Allia imaging platform. The company received a new FDA clearance for its next-generation Allia IGS Pulse system last week. Interact Touch allows clinicians the freedom to access third-party devices and control up to three of those devices through a single touch panel. Clinicians can use the platform without breaking the sterile environment.
To build an ecosystem around Allia, GE HealthCare made available the first third-party application with Interact Touch. The Avvigo+ multi-modality guidance system from Boston Scientific integrates with Allia to provide multimodality control in one click.
GE HealthCare says the system uses its Auto Right cockpit strengths for automatic image quality and dose optimization. It combines with the automated lesion assessment capability of Avvigo+ to optimize workflows in complex intravascular imaging and physiology procedures.
“As we work to evolve our core Allia platform, we continue to look for ways to reduce complexity and improve the operating environment,” says Philip D. Rackliffe, president & CEO for image-guided therapy at GE HealthCare. “With today’s practice of interventional cardiology requiring flexibility and adaptability, INTERACT Touch provides a seamless interface to enable access to technologies that can transform patient care. Our collaboration with Boston Scientific helps to bring this new ecosystem, rooted on the Allia platform, to life and will provide clinicians with access to innovative technology, multi-modality control and a seamless workflow experience – all with the touch of a button.”
Other highlights for GE HealthCare at TCT
GE HealthCare plans to introduce new technologies at TCT, including the Allia IGS Pulse. The system features a new imaging chain designed to provide exceptional imaging at the right dose. This enables visible impact in complex cardiology interventions regardless of patient size.
The company also plans to show off its 3D Stent, one of its latest tools available on Allia. It provides clinicians with intuitive 3D images for stent visualization without the need for additional contrast, device or cost. 3D Stent leverages CMCT imaging for 3D reconstruction of the coronary stent.
“For the first time we have a detailed depiction of the stent during the procedure without the use of intracoronary imaging,” said Dr. Carlos Collet, an interventional cardiologist at CV center Aalst in Belgium. “With 3DStent, you get 3D reconstruction of the stent, including at the cross-sectional level, which is crucial to helping us understand if there are areas of potential under expansion. As a clinician, this technology can truly help us perform an optimal procedure – it’s intuitive to analyze and literally takes 10 seconds to understand what we are seeing.”
GE HealthCare also plans to showcase the OmnifyXR interventional suite from MediView, which further expands its 3D capabilities. OmnifyXR allows the user to simultaneously display up to four customized holographic projections of live imaging. It helps improve ergonomics regardless of working position and enables 3D volume imaging display in augmented reality.
