Fuse Medical announced today that it entered into a distribution partnership with BRM Extremities for the U.S. distribution of Silktoe.
Richardson, Texas-based Fuse inked the deal for the exclusive U.S. distribution of the Silktoe metatarsophalangeal joint arthroplasty implant, adding to the company’s portfolio of lower extremity products.
BRM designed Silktoe as a solution for patients with severe arthritis in the metatarsophalangeal joint who are seeking another option outside of fusion. Its design was derived from the historical silastic toe arthroplasty devices and evolved to offer a more anatomical fit and replication of natural anatomical motion, according to a news release.
The system includes an elastomeric silicone spacer placed within each of the two bones comprising the metatarsophalangeal joint during toe arthroplasty, secured in place by titanium grommets. BRM offers Silktoe in five different sizes specific to the left or right foot.
“Adding Silktoe to our lower extremity portfolio aligns with Fuse’s focus on delivering products based on replication of anatomical motion,” Fuse CEO Christopher C. Reeg said in the release. “Historical designs that led to the evolution of Silktoe have a significant history in the lower extremity market. While there are other options available, we believe the versatility of the device is superior to other toe arthroplasty products. We are excited to partner with BRM and look forward to expanding our distribution footprint with them in the U.S. market.”
