- Former CMS CMO Straube joins NxStage board
NxStage Medical Inc. (NASDAQ:NXTM) chalked up another boon with the news that former chief medical officer of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Dr. Barry Straube joined the board of directors this week.
Straube enters the NxStage board after six years with CMS, during which time he was also director of the office of clinical standards and quality. He oversaw initiatives in Medicare coverage decision-making, quality improvement collaboratives and many sections of the Affordable Care Act of 2010, among others.
- Vycor appoints new head of strategic advisory board for NovaVision
Boca Raton, Fla.-based Vycor Medical Inc. (OTC:VYCO) announced that Dr. Alvaro Pascual-Leone is the new head of the strategic advisory board for its NovaVision Inc. subsidiary.
Pascual-Leone has a resume that includes teaching neurology at Harvard Medical School, directing the Berenson-Allen Center for Noninvasive Brain Stimulation, and being program director for the Harvard-Thorndike Clinical Research Unit, all in Boston. Vycor acquired NovaVision in November, 2010.
- Synthes CEO nominated to Nobel Biocare’s board chairman
Nobel Biocare Holding AG (VTX:NOBN) proposed Synthes Inc. CEO Michel Orsinger as its new chairman early this month replacing Heino von Prondzynski, Bloomberg reported. The appointment would take effect early next year, but he will start attending board meetings immediately.
- Welch Allyn names new country manager for Mexico
Welch Allyn Inc. named Fernando González the company’s country manager for Mexico. González will lead strategic planning to develop and expand Welch Allyn’s business with public and private sector hospitals and primary care facilities in the country.
- Digirad promotes sales exec to senior VP of product sales
Digirad Corp. (NSDQ:DRAD) announced that it promoted veteran medical sales executive Armando Jackson to VP of product sales for the Poway, Calif.-based diagnostic imaging business.
- Dehaier gets new CTO
Dehaier Medical Systems Ltd. (NSDQ:DHRM) named Dr. Xiaoqing Wang its new chief technology officer, replacing Dr. Yong Wang who resigned from the Beijing-based company for personal reasons.
