Yesterday’s story about the Food & Drug Administration’s new office in Mexico City brought up a question: Just how many medical devices are made by our neighbors south of the border?
We sent our question to the FDA’s Rockville, Md., headquarters and they were good enough to respond with a chart of the top medical device importers into the U.S. The answer to our question about Mexico was a little surprising, at least to us; it turns out Mexico is responsible for about 60 percent of all the medical devices imported into the United States from other countries.
