Vital Signs Devices, a GE (NYSE:GE) Healthcare company, issued a warning for its disposable Multi Absorber Original anesthesia system after receiving complaints to a potential safety issue.
The disposable Multi Absorber Original is used in the Medisorb anesthesia device, helping to absorb carbon dioxide in low-flow anesthesia breathing circuits.
Vital Signs issued the warning after receiving customer complaints and returns over an air leakage issue, traced to small holes in the devices’ drainage tubes, resulting in a loss of anesthetic gases, ventilation and oxygenation.
The recall affects product number M1173310, containing lot numbers 12001 through 13031, according to the notice. Vital Signs has promised to replace affected devices free of charge.
