Ex-SurModics CEO Ankeny starts as new Minnetronix CFO | Personnel Moves

 New Minnetronix CFO started yesterday
The new CFO of Minnetronix, Phil Ankeny, joined the company today. Ankeny moved over to Minnetronix from SurModics Inc., where he served as interim CEO and CFO. His background is in venture capital, IT startups and investment banking.

"We are very excited to have someone of Phil’s caliber joining our leadership team and we eagerly look forward to the insights and contributions he will make to our growing enterprise," CEO Rich Nazarian said in prepared remarks.

The St. Paul, Minn.-based medical device company also promoted Jeremy Maniak to COO from his former position as VP of engineering and new ventures.

 Titan Medical’s CEO steps down, interim CEO appointed
Former Titan Medical (CVE:TMD) chairman & CEO Craig Leon resigned March 19, but will remain on as a director until the end of his contract. The company appointed director John Hargrove as chairman and interim CEO while the board sets up a search committee to appoint a permanent replacement for Leon.

Titan Medical did not disclose a reason for Leon’s departure, but stated that he is pursing "new opportunities." Hargrove heralds from Johnson & Johnson Health Care Systems, where he spent the majority of his 30 year career in executive positions in corporate sales and accounts.

 Zimmer shrinks board to 9 members
Marc Casper, CEO of Thermo Fisher (NYSE:TMO), stepped down from the board at Zimmer (NYSE:ZMH), but will continue his committee work until until his term expires in May. The Warsaw, Ind.- based medical device company will not appoint a replacement, allowing the size of its board to shrink to 9 members upon Casper’s departure.  

The board shift follows the recent departure of Jeffrey Paulsen, former president of the global business division.

 Natus names new CFO
Natus Medical (NSDQ:BABY) scooped up Intersil Corp. CFO Jonathan Kennedy and tapped him to be its CFO. Former CFO Steven Murphy will remain with the company as VP of finance for the San Carols, Calif.-based medical device & diagnostics firm.

 Aptiv hires clinical trials veep
Aptiv Solutions hired Parvin Fardipour as VP of adaptive clinical trials, a move the company touts as a boon to its adaptive trial expertise. Fardipour most recently worked at Theorem Clinical Research as director, where she completed a Phase 2/3 combined study. She has 23 years of experience in statistical study design and received her Ph.D. in System Science from City University/Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine in London.

The Reston, Va.-based biopharm and device development company recently wrapped up the 1st phase of development for its Addplan software platform for dose-finding clinical trials.
