Johnson & Johnson‘s (NYSE:JNJ) Ethicon Endo-Surgery subsidiary said it won 510(k) clearance from the FDA for its Harmonic Focus+ shears.
The Harmonic Focus+ shears feature "adaptive tissue technology," which "actively senses and adapts to changing tissue conditions,” according to a press release.
“Harmonic Focus+ is the latest example of our commitment to developing meaningful innovations that can help improve outcomes in critical procedures. As we move toward the future, our adaptive tissue technology will serve as a platform for developing a portfolio of Harmonic devices that offer even greater functionality and benefits, providing surgeons increased choice and the flexibility to meet their diverse set of clinical needs for their patients and procedures,” energy global strategic marketing vice president Tom O’Brien said in prepared remarks.
Ethicon said the 510(k) nod is the 5th this year for its portfolio of energy devices. Ethicon won pre-market approval for its Sedasys computer-assisted anesthesia device in May and 510(k) clearance for the Enseal G2 surgical sealer in February.
