Stockholm-based medical device company Elekta (STO:EKTA B) landed a $25 million contract to provide its Leksell Gamma Knife Perfexion systems to the People’s Republic of China, marking the largest order to date for the Leksell system.
The new contract even further cements the Chinese market as the 2nd largest for Elekta, which has a corner on about 48% of the radiation therapy market there.
Elekta won the contract through China’s National Health & Family Planning Commission, according to a company statement.
That’s more good new for Elekta, which recently found its way out of a long-running lawsuit against rival radiosurgery devices maker Varian Medical Systems (NYSE:VAR). Varian had accused Elekta of poaching its employees and stealing trade secrets, but the companies last month came to terms on a settlement, the details of which were not disclosed.
