Through the deal, Elekta will market and distribute 4 kobold applicators, as well as its prostate template, the company said.
“We are pleased to offer our brachytherapy users in the United States these high quality products from Kobold. Adding these solutions to our brachytherapy portfolio will help us better serve the needs of clinical providers,” Elekta North America exec veep Bill Yaeger said in a press release.
Included in the distribution deal is Kobold Medical’s Fletcher applicator set, designed for high-dose rate radiation boosts to the cervix and parametrial tissues in conjunction with external beam radiation therapy, the Kobold Henschke applicator set, Tandem & ring set and vaginal cylinder applicator set.
Also included is the company’s Prostate HDR template, designed as a single-use disposable device for HDR brachytherapy.
In May, Elekta said it won a supply agreement with the Stockholm County Council to supply equipment to its flagship New Karolinska Solna hospital.
The company said it expects the deal to be formally signed during its the 1st quarter of fiscal year 2016/2017, with the bulk of installations scheduled for April 2017.
