As with the initial edition of the Core 500 launched in June after FDA clearance a month before, the product combines Eko’s TrueSound sound filtering and noise reduction technology with a full-color screen that displays heart rate and ECG tracing.
When combined with the Eko App, which uses artificial intelligence in cardiac disease detection, the device can flag specific cardiac abnormalities like atrial fibrillation, bradycardia, and tachycardia, according to Eko Health. When paired with Eko’s Sensora platform, the Core 500 can flag early signs of valvular heart disease through the detection of structural murmurs.
Eko Health and FIGS noted that the FDA cleared all editions of the Core 500 for healthcare professional use only, and the AI-assisted features are currently limited to users in the United States.
Trina Spear, CEO and co-founder of FIGS, and Connor Landgraf, co-founder and CEO at Eko, expressed excitement about the collaboration.
Landgraf noted that FIGS has built an innovative brand with a loyal following of healthcare professionals. “Joining forces on the FIGS | Eko Core 500 digital stethoscope will support clinicians, advance the future of cardiovascular care, and benefit millions of patients,” Landgraf said in a news release.
Spear said: “Our collaboration demonstrates our continued commitment to innovation that aids the incredible work healthcare professionals do to save lives each and every day.”
The FIGS | Eko Core 500 digital stethoscope comes in four earpiece colors and is designed to align with FIGS’ layering system for its broader product line. The earpieces also feature inscriptions of quotes meant to inspire. The new edition of the Core 500 is available for purchase exclusively through FIGS’ website and mobile application.
