MassDevice On Call

MASSDEVICE ON CALL — Medical device giant Edwards Lifesciences (NYSE:EW) has a rosy outlook for the future, including an anticipated doubling of its Utah workforce from about 500 to 1,000 employees.

The new jobs span a variety of positions at the company’s facility in Draper, Utah, including administrating, engineering and manufacturing roles, a spokeswoman told a local paper.

"Edwards Lifesciences has experienced tremendous growth over the last few years," Edwards global communications senior manager Janet Kim told the Draper Journal.

That growth was driven most recently by Edwards’ November 2011 FDA win for its Sapien transcatheter aortic valve implantation system, which remains the only such device approved for the U.S. market, Kim told reporters.
