Ecolab Inc. (NYSE:ECL) announced its plans to buy Chantilly, Va.-based O.R. Solutions Inc.
The St. Paul, Minn.-based sanitization products and services company said the $260 million acquisition will complement its own product offering.
Privately-held O.R. Solutions makes systems designed to lower the risk of infection during surgery by maintaining the proper temperature of fluids used in the procedures.
"The acquisition will strengthen our position in infection prevention, build on our surgical barrier platform, and expand our solutions for the operating room. It will also bring a strong sales and service team, adding depth and expertise to our business," Ecolab CEO Douglas Baker said in prepared remarks.
Ecolab said O.R. Solutions’ annual sales revenue totals $55 million, and it expects the acquisition to boost its 2011 earnings.
