DTW Podcast: New tools helping medtechs overcome COVID19 challenges

October 5, 2020 By Tom Salemi

DeviceTalks Weekly COVID-19 MassDevice

In this week’s DeviceTalks Weekly Podcast, senior executives from Avail Medsystems and AliveCor detail how their tools are helping medtechs remain in contact with both physicians and patients.

In the keynote interview with Daniel Hawkins, CEO of Avail Medsystems, says the company’s Procedural Telemedicine system will allow medical device sales representatives to observe more procedures remotely, using a camera systems and app that enables two-way communications.

Equally important, the company will provide the technology free of charge for hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers.

“We make it easy for hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers to bring the technology,” Hawkins said. “ We are able to make sure that utilization of it is in fact vendor neutral” for medical device supply companies.

To learn more about the Avail system, register for a free DeviceTalks Tuesdays virtual meeting to be held tomorrow at 4 pm.

In our opening interview, Ira Bahr, COO of AliveCor, explains how the company’s AI-enabled, consumer EKG device, KardiaMobile 6L, is connecting heart patient with their physicians. The company is selling the device for patient monitoring both in home and clinical trial settings. How will tech like this open the the clinical trial market. Also, learn how AliveCor is shifting into more of a service company.

Meanwhile, co-cost Chris Newmarker, executive editor of life sciences at MassDevice, is off to the races with his #NewmarkersNewsmakers which includes BD, Boston Scientific, Coloplast, Medtronic and Smith+Nephew.
