MASSDEVICE ON CALL — A look at the top 10 medical device makers found that more than half had little to no environmental initiatives in place.

In a study conducted by Green Research, the companies with stainability initiatives were:

  • Medtronic (NYSE:MDT)
  • Baxter (NYSE:BAX)
  • Becton Dickinson & Co. (NYSE:BDX)
  • Covidien (NYSE:COV)
  • Those lacking definitive green goals were:

  • Boston Scientific (NYSE:BSX)
  • Smith & Nephew (NYSE:SNN)
  • St. Jude Medical (NYSE:STJ)
  • Stryker (NYSE:SYK)
  • Zimmer (NYSE:ZMH)
  • Thermo Fisher Scientific (NYSE:TMO) (NYSE:TMO)
  • Companies may be limited themselves by looking mainly inward for ways to reduce waste rather than looking at ways to increase reclamation and recycling of used product, according to the Environmental Leader.
