The U.S. Defense Dept. awarded a $13.5 million contract extension to the York, Pa.-based Dentsply International (NSDQ:XRAY) for surgical and other medical products.
The cash for the contract extension came from the DoD’s "warstopper" funds, a budget specifically set aside for industrial preparedness and certain emergency supply lines, according to the 2014 Defense Logistics Agency budget.
The contract extension provides for continued product testing, which the dental supplies company must complete within the year, according to the DoD contract notice.
The Philadelphia, Pa.-based troop support division of the DoD contracted Dentsply, and the company’s services can be used by the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and federal civilian agencies.
