CVRx (Nasdaq:CVRX) announced today that it appointed Kevin Ballinger and Mitch Hill to its board of directors, effective immediately.
“We are thrilled to welcome Kevin and Mitch to our Board of Directors,” said Kevin Hykes, President and CEO of CVRx. “Their extensive experience in the medical device industry, coupled with their strong track records driving growth and innovation, will be invaluable as we continue to expand the adoption of our Barostim therapy. Kevin’s deep understanding of interventional cardiology and Mitch’s financial acumen in high-growth healthcare companies align perfectly with our strategic goals.”
Ballinger has more than 25 years of experience in the medical device industry. Most recently, he served as CEO of Aldevron, leading it through a period of growth culminating in an acquisition by Danaher. Before that, he spent more than two decades at Boston Scientific in various leadership roles. That included time as EVP and president of Interventional Cardiology.
Additionally, Balinger serves on the board of Silk Road Medical. Prior to its acquisition by Johnson & Johnson, he served on the board of Shockwave Medical, too.
Mitch Hill joins with more than 30 years of financial and operational experience in healthcare and technology. He intends to retire from his current post as CFO at Inari Medical — a move announced in July — on Oct. 1. Hill also held executive positions at Cameron Health, Visiogen and Walt Disney Imagineering and Disney Development.
Minneapolis-based CVRx announced that, with these appointments, long-serving member Ali Behbahani departs its board. He first joined the board in 2013. Following these changes, the company’s board now consists of seven members.
“On behalf of CVRx and the Board of Directors, I would like to thank Ali for his tireless support of the company throughout much of our long history. His expertise and dedication have been instrumental in the development and commercialization of Barostim therapy, which has had a positive impact on thousands of patients suffering from heart failure,” said Hykes.
CVRx continues to bulk up its board and executive leadership. Hykes, formerly CEO at Augmedics, took over the corner office at CVRx in February. Then, in May, the company added talent from Abbott and Medtronic to bolster its leadership ranks.
