The UK-based surgical robot maker named Markus Bauman as its new chief legal & business affairs officer. CMR Surgical also officially added Michelle Paknad as SVP of global business development, as announced last month.
Bauman brings more than two decades of in-house legal experience to CMR Surgical, plus experience at global, renowned law firms. His track record includes working with innovative European companies and public and private financings and mergers and acquisitions.
Currently, Bauman serves as a member of the Atomico Expert Network, providing counsel and support to its portfolio of technology firms. He previously spent time as chief legal officer at Matillion, a software company specializing in data integration and transformation for cloud data warehouses. Bauman also had a stint as partner and head of European strategic relations at Goodwin.
Paknad joins CMR Surgical with responsibility for accelerating the company’s commercial efforts. She’s tasked with helping to bring Versius, the company’s surgical robot, to more hospitals around the world. Paknad brings more than 20 years of experience in the medical devices sector with particular experience in sales and marketing.
Her past includes significant experience within the space of soft tissue robotics as well. She spent time in senior sales and marketing roles at Intuitive and most recently served as VP of global robotics and digital health at Smith+Nephew. There, she ran the robotics franchise.
