Biomet M2A Magnum hip implant lawsuits consolidated in Indiana
A raft of personal injury lawsuits filed over Biomet‘s M2A Magnum metal-on-metal hip implant have been consolidated in a federal court in Indiana.
The U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation moved 65 pending cases from other jurisdictions to the U.S. District Court for Northern Indiana, over Biomet’s objections.
Former Orthofix manager charged with Medicare fraud
Former Orthofix (NSDQ:OFIX) territory manager Brian Racey was charged late last month with defrauding Medicare for $250,000 in false claims for the company’s Physio-Stim bone growth stimulator.
Between 2004 and 2008, Racey allegedly forged patient medical records and altered physician prescriptions in order to justify Medicare reimbursement for Physio-Stim use in otherwise non-covered cases.
