- CareFusion offloads OnSite Services unit
CareFusion (NYSE:CFN) announced that it has signed an agreement to sell its OnSite Services instrument management and repair business to Frazier Healthcare. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. “The decision to sell OnSite Services is in line with our strategy to optimize our portfolio of businesses as we focus our operations to profitably grow for the long term,” CareFusion CEO David Schlotterbeck said in prepared remarks.
- KCI acquires TechniMotion patient handling technologies
Kinetic Concepts Inc. (NYSE:KCI) announced the acquisition of substantially all of the assets and intellectual property of TechniMotion Medical, an Austin, Texas-based company that designs and develops innovative and ergonomic patient handling systems for acute and post-acute patient care. TechniMotion™ products include patient lifts that enable out-of-bed transfers, seated transfers, and basic sit-to-stand maneuvers in a more comfortable and natural position, and a reclining bedside chair that allows bed transfers to be performed over the patient’s mattress.
- Teleflex picks up VasoNova Inc.
Teleflex Inc. (NYSE:TFX), a global provider of medical technology products, announced it acquired privately-held VasoNova Inc. in a transaction valued at up to $55 million. Based in Menlo Park, Calif., VasoNova has developed a unique central venous catheter navigation technology that allows for real-time accurate confirmation of placement of peripherally inserted central catheters and central venous catheters in the lower one third of the superior vena cava, the optimal position for catheter tip location.
- ifa Systems AG Announces the Completion of the Acquisition of inoveon Corp.
ifa Systems AG, an ophthalmology IT company in based in Cologne, Germany, announced the acquisition of inoveon Corporation, a company that specializes in detection, staging and monitoring of diabetic retinopathy and macular edema. The acquisition took place on Dec. 29, 2010. ifa Systems has an electronic health record system for ophthalmology that has been adopted in Europe, Latin America and has now been introduced into the North American and Asian markets.
- United Medical Systems acquires Breast Surgical Services
United Medical Systems announces the acquisition of Breast Surgical Services Inc., a Woodlands, Texas-based company, for an undisclosed cash amount. The acquisition of Breast Surgical Services will expand UMS’ stereotactic operations throughout Southern Texas. United Medical Systems is shared medical services company that provides mobile services to over 625 hospitals and medical centers in 32 states, Canada and South America.
- IDEX Corp. announces Microfluidics International Corp. buyout
IDEX Corp. (NYSE:IEX) announced that it has entered into a definitive merger agreement to acquire Microfluidics International Corp. (OTC:MFLU) for $1.35 per share, net to the seller in cash, and subject to adjustment as provided in the merger agreement. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2011. The $1.35 per share cash purchase price represents a premium of approximately 69 percent over Microfluidics’ volume-weighted average share price during the 30 trading days ending January 10, 2011, the last trading day prior to this announcement, and a 75 percent premium over Microfluidics’ volume-weighted average share price during the 90 trading days ending Jan. 10, 2011.
