Caliper Life Sciences Inc. launched a new line of optical imaging reagents for its IVIS system.
The Hopkinton, Mass.-based lab equipment and services provider said its Rediject D-Luciferin Ultra reagent allows researchers to track injection quality because it comes with a pre-formulated tracking agent.
The IVIS line consists of two models: The IVIS Kinetic uses video-rate imaging to portray biological processes in real time; the IVIS Lumina XR integrates fluorescence, bio-luminescence and x-ray capabilities into a single device.
Caliper posted second-quarter sales of $32.1 million, down 5.6 percent compared with $34 million during the same period last year.
But increased consumable sales, reduced inventory and cost-cutting measures brought it closer to breaking even; the company reported a net loss of $4.1 million for the quarter, compared with a net loss of $6.7 million during the second quarter of 2008, a 39.3 percent reduction.
