Bruker Corp. (NSDQ:BRKR) tapped Urban Faeh to be president of its optics division and managing director of Bruker Optik GmbH in Ettlingen, Germany, Faeh’s home base.
Faeh replaces Dirk Laukien, a scion of one of the company’s founding families, who stepped down from day-to-day involvement in the Billerica, Mass.-based imaging and lab equipment maker’s operations but retained his seat on its board.
Faeh put in 10 years in the food and specialty chemical industries with Nestle Research and Sika AG before joining Bruker in 1998 as a sales manager in Switzerland, according to a press release. In 2000, he was appointed managing director of Bruker Optics Switzerland and later took on the company’s sales territories in Italy, Spain, Portugal, France and the U.K.
The move is the latest in a series of management changes at Bruker. Aside from Laukien’s departure, announced in November of last year, the company also tapped a pair of executives from its C-level suite for promotions that month, naming CFO Bill Knight to fill the newly created COO position, and appointing chief accounting officer Brian Monahan to replace Knight as finance chief.
Bruker also tapped a pair of its vice presidents to replace Laukien in its Biospin division, naming Bernd Gewiese and Werner Maas as co-presidents of the operation effective Feb. 1, and named three directors for its newly formed energy services business in October.
