Brainomix, Medtronic ink deal on AI in stroke care

February 27, 2025 By Sean Whooley

Brainomix MedtronicBrainomix announced today that it entered into a strategic partnership with the Medtronic Neurovascular business unit.

The collaboration aims to enhance stroke care for patients across Western Europe. Brainomix and Medtronic plan to integrate AI solutions into clinical practice to expand access to life-changing treatments.

U.K.-based Brainomix develops the 360 Stroke platform. Powered by state-of-the-art AI algorithms, it provides real-time interpretations of brain scans to aid treatment and transfer decisions for stroke patients, according to the company.

By combining Brainomix’s AI-powered imaging technology with Medtronic’s expertise in neurovascular treatments, the company says the partnership represents a significant step forward in stroke care. The collaboration could support faster, more accurate diagnoses. This could enable better-informed decisions and more efficient life-saving interventions for healthcare professionals.

Brainomix says Medtronic’s established presence in Western Europe can help accelerate the adoption of its AI technology. This ensures that the life-saving innovations reach more hospitals and healthcare providers across the region.

Additionally, integrating AI-powered imaging software with Medtronic’s neurovascular solutions can provide highly precise diagnostic tools. These, in turn, enable quicker and more informed decisions crucial for timely stroke treatments. Brainomix also said the partnership can optimize clinical workflows, alleviating the burden on providers and enhancing efficiency.

“This partnership with Medtronic is a natural fit, with the leading neurovascular device provider joining forces with the leading stroke AI imaging partner, both aligned around a mutual commitment towards improving stroke care for all patients,” said Dr. Michalis Papadakis, CEO and co-founder of Brainomix. “We have demonstrated that our software impacts treatment rates, and working with Medtronic, we now have an opportunity together to deliver a solution for stroke networks across Europe that will enable more patients to get access to vital stroke treatments.
