Brainlab announced that it completed the acquisition of patient-centric data collection and health management company VisionTree Software.
Munich, Germany–based Brainlab said the acquisition highlights the company’s commitment to taking a closer look at patient quality of life and condition post-treatment.
San Diego–based VisionTree Software develops cloud-based data collection and health management solutions that Brainlab plans to use in enhancing its tools for collecting granular and well-structured data outcomes. The VisionTree Optimal Care (VTOC) platform offers proven integration capabilities with leading electronic health record, research and registry platforms, according to a news release.
Brainlab also sees the acquisition of VisionTree as an opportunity to capture the data otherwise only available in text format by point-of-care electronic forms and use it in the company’s clinical registries in efficient workflows. The company plans to invest in the VTOC platform and enhance the VisionTree patient portal to help offer streamlined and paperless workflows.
“I believe that patient data must ultimately be controlled by the patient,” Brainlab president & CEO Stefan Vilsmeier said in the news release. “The acquisition of VisionTree adds a tool to our portfolio that will give the patient more control over the data that is generated by our systems for the benefit of better treatment.”
