Scivita, a China-based medtech company, provides minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment solutions. It focuses on R&D and commercialization for medical endoscopes and related products. The company aims to globalize its operations through strategic cooperations with companies like Boston Scientific.
Boston Scientific outlined China as a serious area of focus at its recent Investor Day event last fall. Chair and CEO Mike Mahoney describes the country as “one of the most attractive medtech markets.” The company sees “unmatched” growth, scale and a worthwhile innovation ecosystem within the country. Shortly after, reports surfaced that the company intended to open its first factory in China.
Under the arrangement, Scivita intends to expand its relationship with Boston Scientific for strategic co-development and global distribution activities. That could include co-developing endoscopic devices and distribution opportunities for Scivita’s single-use endoscope and imaging devices.
Scivita expects the collaboration to bring more of its products to hospitals in China and around the globe. Co-founder, GM and CTO Dr. Chin To said in a news release that partnerships like these are “crucial” to its globalization strategy.
“We are excited to further our relationship with Scivita Medical which we anticipate will help provide physicians with more device options in geographies around the world,” said Mike Jones, SVP and president, Endoscopy, Boston Scientific. “We look forward to successfully building on that relationship with this new arrangement.”
