Boston Scientific appoints new chief medical officer for EMEA

Boston Scientific (NYSE: BSX) announced today that it appointed Dr. Angelo Auricchio as chief medical officer for its rhythm management business in EMEA.

An expert in cardiology and electrophysiology, Auricchio offers more than 30 years of experience as he assumes his new role. In this post, he joins Boston Scientific’s EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) leadership team. He holds responsibility for providing medical leadership and strategic direction to the business in the region.

“We are delighted to welcome Dr. Auricchio to the Boston Scientific team,” said Caroline Bravo, VP of the Rhythm Management business in EMEA. “His deep clinical expertise, combined with his academic and leadership accomplishments, make him an invaluable asset to our organization. We are confident that his contributions will significantly enhance our ability to deliver innovative solutions that improve patient outcomes in the EMEA region.”

Auricchio most recently served as deputy head of cardiology and director of clinical EP at Istituto Cardiocentro Ticino in Lugano, Switzerland. He holds professorships at both the Università della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano and the University Hospital in Magdeburg, Germany. Additionally, he serves as co-director of the Centre for Computational Medicine in Cardiology at Università della Svizzera Italiana.

Boston Scientific said the appointment of Auricchio exemplifies its commitment to advancing cardiac care in the EMEA region. The company expects his expertise to contribute to the development of innovative solutions for treating cardiac rhythm disorders.“I am excited to join Boston Scientific and contribute to the company’s goal of improving patient lives,” said Auricchio. “I look forward to leveraging my expertise to advance the field of cardiac rhythm management and contribute to developing innovative solutions for patients in the EMEA region.”
