BK Medical UK Ltd. is now the only company selling Advanced Medical Diagnostics SA’s prostate examination tool in the United Kingdom.
AMD named the British arm of Herlev, Denmark-based BK Medical ApS, a subsidiary of Peabody, Mass.-based Analogic Corp. (NSDQ:ALOG), as the sole agent for its HistoScanning prostate tissue characterization technology.
Doctors use the Waterloo, Belgium-based Advanced Medical Diagnostics’ diagnosis tool to "differentiate, characterize, and visualize solid organ tissue types based on the analysis of backscattered ultrasound," according to a press release.
BK Medical, a developer of diagnostic ultrasound scanners and transducers, has helped AMD place more than 20 HistoScanning systems alongside the BK Pro Focus and Pro Focus UltraView ultrasound systems in urology departments across Europe over the last 18 months, according to the release.
HistoScanning has not yet received clearance by the Food & Drug Administration for use in the U.S.
