
Biomedical Structures LLC completed the addition of a clean-room for medical device textile production.
The Warwick, R.I.-based company said the new facility is purpose-built for manufacturing finer PET fibers, DSM Dyneema Purity, and other mono- and multi-filament polymer fibers for orthopedic, cardiovascular and general surgery applications.
BMS said it plans to support the expansion by hiring more engineering staff.
When the company raised $3.75 million in an equity offering in May, president John Gray said the funding came "at a critical time” for the company, as demand for its products and services was on the rise. BMS planned at the time to use the infusion to hire more personnel, buy more advanced equipment and boost its manufacturing capacity, according to Gray.
