Ophthalmic device developer Beaver-Visitec is ready for business.
The Waltham, Mass.-based developer of ophthalmic micro-surgical devices was formed from the merger of the eye care businesses of Becton, Dickinson & Co. (NYSE:BDX) and Medtronic Inc. (NYSE:MDT). The company said it will market Beaver Blades, Visitec cannulas and instruments, Merocel fluid control products and Wet-Field Eraser electrosurgery instruments, brands it inherited from its corporate forebears.
Beaver-Visitec is planning an official launch at the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s annual meeting Oct. 17, according to a press release.
At the close of its third quarter, BD said it expected the sale of its ophthalmic systems unit to occur during its fourth quarter.
