The appointment took effect on May 13. Alameddine will be responsible for driving the global strategic, operational, quality and commercial excellence of the Peripheral Intervention business unit, according to BD. She will report to Executive VP and President of BD Interventional Rick Byrd.
“With more than 25 years of healthcare industry experience, Rima is a passionate leader with a track record of strong execution,” Byrd said in a news release. “The combination of Rima’s leadership and a vibrant pipeline of innovations put BD Peripheral Intervention in a strong position to accelerate growth for the business and serve patients across a variety of peripheral vascular and oncology applications.”
Alameddine has been with the company since 2015. She was most recently the worldwide president of BD Urology and Critical Care since October 2021. Prior to that role, Alameddine joined BD as the VP and general manager for C.R. Bard in Latin America and was appointed VP and general manager for the Oncology platform within BD Peripheral Intervention.
Before joining BD, Alameddine held numerous leadership roles at GE HealthCare over an 11-year span, including chief marketing officer for Latin America.
Other recent personnel moves at BD
Alameddine’s appointment follows other executive personnel moves at the company in recent months.
In February, Dave Hickey, EVP and president of Life Science, announced his intent to retire. Hickey plans for his retirement to go into effect on July 1, 2024. He originally joined BD in 2014, serving as president of Diagnostic Systems. He became president of Integrated Diagnostic Solutions in 2019 and began leading the Life Sciences segment in January 2021.
The company also appointed Rian Seger president of BD Surgery in April. Before becoming president of BD Surgery, Seger was VP and general manager of BD’s Medication Delivery Solutions business unit within the BD Medical segment. Seger reports to Byrd and is responsible for driving the global strategic, operational, and commercial performance of BD Surgery.
