Franklin Lakes, New Jersey-based BD says it’s the first all-in-one CVC insertion device on the market. It designed the device to simplify central line placement for clinicians and enhance patient safety. The technology streamlines key steps and incorporates safety-focused design elements to support consistent, efficient care in high-pressure acute settings.
CenroVena One addresses the challenges of CVC placement by consolidating essential components into a single platform. It features the introducer needle, syringe, guidewire and catheter to cut down the number of steps and reduce insertion time. The platform also helps reduce contamination risk by minimizing touchpoints and protects against insertion-related complications.
Key features include a pre-loaded, kink-resistant guidewire and an integrated drape clip permanently attached to the guidewire to prevent embolism. Its pre-loaded catheter has a self-dilating tip, eliminating the need for a separation dilation step. The introducer needle has integrated passive needle safety to reduce the risk of needlestick injury. Then, the closed insertion system designed to help reduce the risk of air embolism, clinician blood exposure and patient blood loss.
CentroVenaOne holds FDA 510(k) clearance and is now commercially available in the U.S. BD said its launch marks its entry into the acute CVC market, expanding its vascular access portfolio.
