
Becton Dickinson, CareFusion settle lawsuits filed over merger

Becton Dickinson and CareFusion said yesterday that they agreed to settle a raft of lawsuits filed by shareholders seeking to block their pending, $12.2 billion merger.
CareFusion shareholders are slated for a Jan. 21 vote on the merger, which was announced in October 2014. Soon after that, 5 shareholders sued in a Delaware state court; 3 other lawsuits were filed in a California state court, according to a regulatory filing. Read more
MiMedx reveals subpoena, lawsuit against rival, beefs with FDA

MiMedx said it received a subpoena over sales and marketing of its regenerative biomaterial products and bioimplants made from human amniotic membrane. The Georgia company also disclosed a lawsuit against a rival it accuses of unfair business practices and a beef with the FDA over proposed new regulations.
First, the civil subpoena: MiMedx said it received the document from the Office of Inspector General of the U.S. Health & Human Services Dept. as part of a probe into its sales and marketing practices. Read more
Bard seeks pelvic mesh trial delay over judge's comments

C.R. Bard yesterday asked the federal judge overseeing thousands of lawsuits brought against it to delay a trial slated for next month, arguing that the judge’s comments during a hearing last month prejudiced the jury pool.
Judge Joseph Goodwin of the U.S. District Court for Southern West Virginia is supervising a multi-district litigation involving thousands of the lawsuits filed over Bard’s pelvic mesh devices for pelvic organ prolapse and stress urinary incontinence. Read more
