C.R. Bard Inc.’s (NYSE:BCR) senior VP and chief financial officer Todd Schermerhorn announced his retirement after 26 years with the company.
Schermerhorn will continue to serve as CFO until the Murray Hill, N.J.-based company finds a replacement, which may take until August 2012.
Schermerhorn rose through the ranks at Bard, which is 29th on the MassDevice Big 100 list of the world’s largest medical device companies, starting as a financial analyst in 1985 and becoming senior VP & CEO in April 2003, according to a release.

- Ventana Medical appoints new president
Ventana Medical Systems Inc. announced that Mara Aspinall was appointed president for the Tucson, Ariz.-based company. Aspinall was recently president & CEO of On-Q-ity, a start-up diagnostics company she co-founded, where she continues as a director.
- Toshiba names new VP of sales
Toshiba Medical Systems Corp. announced yesterday that Scott Goodwin had been named VP of sales, where he will oversee CT, MR, X-ray/vascular and ultrasound sales, customer training and applications. Goodwin joins the Tustin, Calif.-based diagnostic imaging company with a resume that includes Philips Healthcare and Siemens Medical Solutions.
- Globus adds Ann Rhoads to board
Spinal implant company Globus Medical Inc., which is currently mired in a bitter patent spat with Synthes Inc. (VTX:SYST), added Ann Rhoads to its board of directors. Rhoads is currently executive VP, CFO, treasurer and secretary for Zogenix Inc. (NSDQ:ZGNX).
- Mass. Life Sciences Center adds two to board
Mass. Gov. Deval Patrick added two new members to the board of directors for the Mass. Life Sciences Center. Dana-Farber Cancer Institute president & CEO Edward Benz, Jr., and University of Mass. president Robert Caret were appointed to the board of the quasi-public agency.
- Echo Therapeutics appoints new VP of operations
Echo Therapeutics Inc. (OTC:ECTE) announced today that Marshall Deweese was named VP of operations for the Philadelphia-based company. Deweese brings with him 16 years at Abbott (NYSE:ABT) as director of research and development, program management and OEM operations.
