B. Braun Medical said it launched a new subsidiary north of the border, B. Braun of Canada Ltd., with Bob Comer serving as president of the new entity.

Bethlehem, Pa.-based Braun said the Canadian business will be headquartered in Mississauga, Ontario.

"Our newly formed subsidiary will enable us to work more closely with customers and group purchasing organizations across the country," Comer said in prepared remarks. "We are committed to growing our Canadian business and providing our customers with quality products and services that they have come to expect from B. Braun."

Last month Braun won a sole-source contract from Premier healthcare alliance for IV products.
