Biomet swings to Q1 black, announces Lanx buyout
Biomet said it’s agreed to acquire spinal implant maker Lanx Inc. for an undisclosed amount as it revealed a swing to fiscal 1st-quarter black.
The Warsaw, Ind.-based orthopedics giant said the deal will expand its spine offering with Lanx’s Timberline and Aspen spinal fusion systems.
BREAKING: House votes to fund FDA past shutdown
The U.S. House of Representatives voted tonight to fund the FDA until the federal shutdown ends or until Dec. 15, whichever comes first.
The lower chamber approved on a 235-162 vote a joint resolution by Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-Ala.) that restores funding to the level established by sequestration, which is about $200 million less than originally authorized.

Changes to Australia’s radiofrequency spectrum could affect medical devices
Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration is advising that upcoming changes to to radiofrequency spectra Down Under could affect "a small number" of medical devices.
The TGA said the changes, planned for next month, are being made by the Australian Communication & Media Authority to facilitate the changeover from analog to digital devices.
B. Braun Medical launches Canadian subsidiary
B. Braun Medical said it launched a new subsidiary north of the border, B. Braun of Canada Ltd., with Bob Comer serving as president of the new entity.
Bethlehem, Pa.-based Braun said the Canadian business will be headquartered in Mississauga, Ontario.
