Augmedics adds former J&J, Medtronic executives to leadership positions

March 15, 2022 By Sean Whooley

augmedicsAugmedics announced today that it appointed a new independent director to its board and a new chief marketing officer.

Chicago-based Augmedics confirmed that Nadav Tomer will join as an independent director, while Reed Krider will be chief marketing officer (CMO).

Tomer joins with 23 years of global experience, having retired from Johnson & Johnson in January after most recently serving as the global president of spine for J&J’s DePuy Synthes Companies.

Augmedics’ addition of Tomer to its board of directors follows the January appointment of former Bardy Diagnostics CEO Kevin Hykes as president and CEO.

“Nadav’s experience at the helm of one of the most comprehensive spine portfolios in the world is an invaluable addition to our board,” Hykes said in a news release. “We are excited to leverage his expertise to continue to build on our position as the market-leading AR surgical guidance system for spinal procedures. I am thrilled to welcome him to the team.”

Augmedics said the appointment of Tomer reaffirms its commitment to developing its xvision system for augmented reality-based surgical guidance.

“xvision’s ability to enable surgeons to visualize patients’ 3D spinal anatomy without looking away from the surgical field is unique and highly differentiated in the market,” Tomer said. “I am excited  to work with Kevin and the team to realize the potential of the xvision platform to simplify and  improve the surgical experience for spine surgeons everywhere.”

Krider joins as CMO having spent 17 years at Medtronic across a number of marketing and sales leadership roles. He spent three years as VP of strategic marketing and six years as regional VP of sales in the restorative therapies group at the medtech giant.

“We are truly excited about the addition of Nadav and Reed, particularly given their experience as successful leaders within leading spine franchises,” Augmedics Chairperson Rick Anderson said. “This  is an incredible opportunity to utilize deep expertise in our home markets as we continue to build  the leading augmented reality platform in healthcare.”
