
Illinois healthcare products maker ArjoHuntleigh hired Rick Lytle, a former Covidien (NYSE:COV) executive, as the new president of company operations in the U.S. and Canada.
Lytle was previously Covidien’s president of of Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and formerly worked at Sage Products and Black and Decker.
ArjoHuntleigh, a Getinge (PINK:GETI B) company, said Lytle will be in charge of a overseeing a smooth integration with the newly acquired Therapeutic Surfaces division from Kinetic Concepts.
ArjoHuntleigh primarily makes and sells medical beds, patient moving devices, DVT prevention, wound healing and disinfection systems.

Palo Alto, Calif.-based Carbylan Biosurgery named a new president & CEO in David Renzi, also adding him to the board of directors. Renzi former formerly worked in sales and marketing at Ethicon, a Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ) company.
New board chairman Dr. Samuel Lynch founded BioMimetic Therapeutics, where he consulted through the company’s IPO and recent merger with Wright Medical (NSDQ:WMGI).

Optos CFO steps down after 15 months
The British retinal imaging company Optos (LON:OPTS) announced that current finance chief Louisa Burdett resigned, but will stay on until September to help the company find a permanent replacement. Burdett joined the company as CFO in April of last year. The company’s current group director of finance and secretary, Robert Kennedy, already stepped up as interim CFO.

Safeguard Scientifics (NYSE:SFE) hired Albert Wiegman as a senior member of the company’s "deal team," reporting directly to CEO Stephen Zarrilli. Wiegman has 15 years of venture capital firm experience and has worked with 30 early-stage companies, including deals such as Madison Dearborn’s acquisition of Fieldglass and Hologic’s (NSDQ:HOLX) acquisition of Interlace Medical.

Marjorie Bowen is joining Hansen Medical’s (NSDQ:HNSN) board of directors after current members voted to add a 9th seat. Bowen currently sits on the boards of Dune Energy and Global Aviation Holding and was previously affiliated with The Talbots, Euramax International, Texas Industries, Vertis and Vertis Holdings.
