mHealth: Apple collects more medtech experts

Apple’s rumored forays into the medical device space continue to crystallize as the tech titan draws more medical sensor experts to its ranks.
New reports of Apple’s medtech hiring suggest accelerating interest in health monitoring, adding to rumors that the company is working on biomarker trackers for the the long-rumored “iWatch” and sensors that may be able to predict heart attacks. That may spell a shakeup in mHealth, should Apple decide to compete with existing players. Read more
Orthofix taps ex-AMS finance chief Heggestad to be new CFO

Orthofix named the former CFO for American Medical Systems, Mark Heggestad, to be its new finance chief.
Last month Orthofix named David Ziegler, an outside consultant who’s been helping with a massive audit of the orthopedic device maker’s books, as interim CFO to replace Emily Buxton. Read more
Hansen Medical taps ex-Teleflex prez Vance as new CEO

Hansen Medical tapped a former Teleflex executive, Cary Vance, to be its new president & CEO.
Vance was president of Teleflex’s anesthesia & respiratory business, according to the release, and also put in time at Covidien and GE Healthcare. Read more
