Ambulances get Google Glass | MassDevice.com On Call

MASSDEVICE ON CALL — A pair of California healthcare companies are teaming up to outfit a suite of ambulances and mobile medical teams with Google Glass, allowing first responders to collaborate with hospitals while en route with emergency patients.

Mobile communications provider CrowdOptic teamed up with medical transport provider ProTransport-1 to deploy the Google Glass broadcasting solution, which the companies hope will improve patient care as well as benefit documentation systems.

"CrowdOptic’s see-what-I-see technology allows paramedics and nurses on our ambulances to broadcast the live view of complex cases to medical teams at the hospital," ProTransport-1 chief strategy officer Glenn Leland said in prepared remarks. "We additionally envision a variety of dispatch, navigation, documentation and operational processes will migrate to CrowdOptic and Google Glass over time."
