Amazon-Berkshire-JPM healthcare bet taps Comcast’s Stoddard for COO
The healthcare joint venture started by Amazon (NSDQ:AMZN), Berkshire Hathaway and J.P. Morgan tapped former Comcast executive Jack Stoddard to be its COO, reporting to CEO Dr. Atul Gawande.
Stoddard was a co-founder of Accolade, a startup backed by the cable giant that helps workers manage their health benefits, and was also in on the creation of Optum, later acquired by UnitedHealth Group (NYSE:UNH), CNBC reported.
Gawande was tapped to lead the still-unnamed venture in June. It’s unclear exactly what the JV’s goal is, but JPM CEO Jamie Dimon told the cable news network that it will likely start small in tackling healthcare costs for the collective 1.2 million workers under their umbrella.
