Covidien chief Almeida to chair AdvaMed's board

Medtech lobbying group AdvaMed appointed a new board chairman, tapping Covidien chairman, president & CEO José Almeida for the role.
Almeida has been on the board since 2005 and a member of the executive committee since 2010. He’ll serve a 2-year term as chairman, succeeding outgoing chairman and Zimmer Holdings president & CEO David Dvorak. Read more
Axonics raises $33M for its neuromodulation tech

Alfred Mann Foundation spinout Axonics Modulation Technologies raises nearly $33 million in a Series A round for its neuromodulation technology.
Axonics Modulation Technologies said it drummed up a $32.6 million Series A round for the neuromodulation technology it’s developing to treat chronic pain and overactive bladder.
Irvine, Calif.-based Axonics said the round was led by Edmond de Rothschild Investment Partners and included NeoMed Management, Legend Capital and "a select group of private individuals." Read more
