AdvaMed said today that it snagged Matthew Wetzel, the former senior counsel for global compliance and ethics at Boston Scientific (NYSE:BSX), to be its new vice president and assistant general counsel.

“We’re delighted to welcome Matt to AdvaMed,” senior executive vice president & general counsel Chris White said in prepared remarks. “AdvaMed’s legal department works to ensure a predictable legal environment that values innovative health care solutions and ensures patient access to the latest advancements in medical technology. Matt’s deep medtech industry, legal and health care experience will help the association continue to advance its advocacy goals and further AdvaMed’s compliance leadership.”

Before his stint at Marlborough, Mass.-based Boston Scientific, Wetzel was as an associate at the law firms of Reed Smith and Latham & Watkins in Washington, D.C. He is a member of the American Health Lawyers Assn. Diversity & Inclusion Council and a 2015 Fellow of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity.
