X-Bolt Orthopaedics raised $2.5 million (€1.8m) to put its hip fracture repair device on the market.
Dublin-based X-Bolt develops and manufactures devices for hip fractures. The company’s marquee product is an expanding bolt placed where the hip fractures, designed to help decrease the need for repeat surgeries.
The funding round was led by AIB Seed Capital Fund and Enterprise Equity Venture Capital, according to a report in the Irish Times. According to the same report, the 7-year-old company has raised $4.5 million (€3.3m) over the past 3 years.
The Irish orthopedics device maker expects to obtain FDA approval in the U.S. later this year for its flagship device.
