Cayenne Medical sues MedShape over soft tissue anchor
Cayenne Medical filed a lawsuit against rival MedShape Inc., alleging infringement of 2 of its patents covering its AperFix soft tissue anchor by MedShape’s ExoShape device.
The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for Arizona, alleges that MedShape hired former Cayenne salespeople with knowledge of the 2 patents at issue, which cover Cayenne’s AperFix device.
MedShape wins 510(k) clearance for femoral fixation device
MedShape said it won 510(k) clearance from the FDA for its ExoShape femoral soft tissue fastener, a shape memory polymer device used in knee reconstruction procedures.
The Atlanta-based medical device company touts the ExoShape implant, for anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction surgeries, as "the only femoral fixation device fabricated completely out of PEEK Altera polymer," according to a press release.
MedShape raises $11M
MedShape Inc. said it raised $11 million to advance its pipeline of shape memory devices.
The Atlanta-based medical device company said the proceeds will go toward "further development and commercialization of pipeline products," including the launch of its Eclipse soft tissue anchor.
That device won 510(k) clearance from the FDA in March.
