ResMed (NYSE:RMD) said it bought out Czech medtech distributor Unimedis for an undisclosed amount.
Prague-based Unimedis specializes in sleep-disordered breathing and respiratory care devices in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Unimedis co-founder Ondrej Kalas will stay on as the country manager for ResMed, according to a press release.
“The Czech and Slovak markets have tremendous growth opportunity for our core business in treating sleep-disordered breathing and for our growing portfolio of respiratory care and cardiology solutions. This acquisition continues ResMed’s emerging market strategy of growing our distribution to bring market-leading sleep-disordered breathing and respiratory care solutions to places where they’re needed most,” ResMed-Europe president Anne Reiser said in prepared remarks.
The move is part of ResMed’s bid to expand its footprint in Europe. The San Diego-based company said it also acquired Mediserv, its Polish distributor, in October for an undisclosed amount.
