Becton, Dickinson & Co. (NYSE:BDX) named the former CEO of advertising giant JWT Worldwide to its board of directors.
Christopher Jones is the former head of one of the world’s largest advertising agencies, who retired in 2001 after 24 years at the firm.
BD chairman and CEO Edward Ludwig said in prepared remarks that experience will help the company as it looks to boost its footprint in “growing and emerging” markets.
It’s not the only directorship for Jones, who also serves as operating partner and outside director for European private equity firm Cognetas LLP, a director of British financial services firm Central Trust plc and the non-executive chairman of consulting company Results International Group.
He’s also chairman of the board for a U.K. diagnostics service, The Pavilion Clinic, a board member and advisor to the musculo-skeletal surgical group at the Oxford Clinic and has been a member of the Health Advisory Board at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health since 1997.
Jones will serve on the BD board’s audit and corporate and scientific affairs committees. The company’s board members receive a base salary of $75,000 a year plus restricted stock valued at $150,000, according to a regulatory filing.
